Obituary for John Emmett Harris Jr.
John Emmett Harris, Jr., 89 passed away July 30, 2018. John was born in Charlottesville, VA to the late John E. Harris, Sr. and W. Blanche Jackson Harris. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Julia and Elizabeth; ex-wife, Gertrude; life partner, Hilda; and granddaughter, Nakia. John retired after more than 30 years of service at the Phipps Press of Freeport, NY.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Stephanie Holman (Leon); son, Stanley Harris (Joyce); grandchildren, Jordan, Shannon, Lakisha, Keyonna, Alma, Malcolm and Bimini; great-grandchildren, Maliyah, Ciana, Jeremiah, Brezel, Amina, Evelyn and Jacob; as well as a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A homegoing service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
