Dorothy “Dot” McPherson Peele Marquart, 91, passed away peacefully at Georgian Manor on the morning of November 9, 2015. She was a lifelong resident of Chesapeake, Virginia, born on March 21, 1924 at the home of her parents, Basil and Nina McPherson, in South Norfolk. Dot was born into a large and loving family and beside her parents was predeceased by her sister, Emily Dowell; and brothers, Basil, Milton and Robert. Dot was a graduate of the 1942 class of South Norfolk High School and retired from her work at Sears and Roebuck of Norfolk in 1982. She was a lifelong member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, serving her church in many, many ways. Dot was predeceased by her first husband, Maurice Lambert Peele Sr., and her second husband, Howard Marquart.

Dot and Maurice's two children and four grandchildren survive to mourn her passing. Her son, Maurice, and his wife, Janice of Hope Mills, North Carolina gave Dot two grandsons, Jonathan and Christopher. Dot's daughter, Nina A. Peele and her husband, John W. O'Hear of Starkville, Mississippi have two daughters, Mary and Kathleen O'Hear; she is also survived by her sister, Lillian Murphy of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 11 am at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at the funeral home.
