To the Jenning's Family, I was so sad to hear of Sam's passing. I have fond memories of babysitting little Sammy when we lived in Virginia. As I viewed his family photos, I could see that same sweet smile I remembered. My Dad passed away in June of last year after several months of hospice care. It is comforting to know that Dad and Sam are with Jesus, and neither one are feeling any more pain.

In times like these we need an anchor. I'm so glad to know that Sammy knew his anchor! We extend our deepest sympathy to the family. I haven't seen Sam in so many years but still have great memories of him. I loved watching him on the soccer field at TAB. He always had a smile and was peace loving and humble. It breaks our heart to see loved ones go but we know that whats ahead is so much better.

My fondest memory of Sam occured at Camp Wakefield in 1988(?). I was saved May 24 1987 way down in NC. My mom, dad, sister, brother, and grandmother were members at Tabernacle while I was still living lost in sin. So many times they tried to encourage me to attend church but I rejected their pleas. I would attend on Easter and maybe Christmas a time or two. I always was under conviction while hearing the messages. I would respond by going forward and was dealt with with an open Bible. I would return home under conviction but fall right back to my own selfish ways. It wasn't until my mom died in 1984 and my dad died in 1984 and a son being born and his mom leaving me and him that the Lord really got my attention. I did not want to raise a son living the way I was and it took a little time before I was reading the Bible to him and trying so hard to change my ways that the Lord starting leading me to radio ministers and a few churchs. I was saved at my uncle's church in NC and wanted to move to NC and be close to him because he knew his Bible so well. I need a godly example in my life. My uncle told me he believed the Lord had something in store for me in Va. I stayed and felt led to attend Tabernacle. By this time all of my family had died or moved away and I think the first person that really showed a lot of concern for me was Brother John Jennings! Instantly I was in his Sunday School Class and his down to earth manners were just what I needed. He knew so much Bible and I hung on to every bit of wisdom he shared. He had me involved in so much. Here I was with so much guilt still and not truly understanding the Grace of God and yet I was being taught. He has taken years to finally grasp Grace. I was helping out in the school and college and church and all under Brother John's leadership. I was trying to be like him! At the school I was allowed to help in the classrooms and this is where I first saw what a godly woman Sister Brenda was. I was in her class for one of her prayer times. She dealt with her students with so much compassion and care and her prayer was so heart felt. I will never forget that day. I witnessed how both Brother John and Sister Brenda dealt with their son Sammy. They showed so much care and had him in the best place he could be. I wanted my son there too. Their example has made a lasting empression on my life! Brother John invited me to Camp Wakefield for a week in 1988 and I gladly excepted. I helped where ever he wanted me. I made it to kitchen detail. I loved it. Sister Brenda was in charge of the kitchen and always full of joy and always encouraging others. The Tabernacle years were some of the GREATEST years of my life! The examples of John and Brenda Jennings! Thank you! That time working in the kitchen at Camp was where the fondest memory of Sammy occured. It was time to put some food away in the cooler. I opened the cooler door and the light was on and Sammy was in there going to town on some leftovers. The look on his face! That smile he always had and I didn't really know him well at that time. We both cracked up. I never laughed so hard. He always looked so humble and was pretty quite too. But that day was special to me! I felt so honored to be a part of some very special people. At the time I was 34 yrs old, a high school drop-out, didn't know much Bible, had no self esteem, but led to a place where I had an opportunity to grow. I know the hurt parents, wife, and children must have. I believe with all my heart that our sons are with the Lord now. This is what gives me peace. I love you!

Kelly and Family, I was sadden to learn that Sam went to be with the Lord. We lift you up in prayers and hugs during this period of grieving. Even though I never met Sam personally he touched my family's lives and I know he had to have been an amazing man as Kelly's is his wife. Dear Jennings family: I was saddened to hear of the passing of Sam but I am 100% sure that he is no longer in pain and is rejoicing in heaven. Sam's parents were teachers of mine in high school From Tabernacle Baptist Christian School in Va Beach.
