I remember I would miss the bus on purpose sometimes back in school when you were working from home, youd act annoyed but then right when we left you didnt care and wed get breakfast somewhere and talk. I miss talking to you. I am so lost.

I remember on the day you died I was laying on the couch in the living room. I opened my eyes but was still dreaming, so I thought. I looked at the doorway to the kitchen and saw you, I really saw you. I got up and walked to the doorway and saw you at the dinner table looking out towards the windows with your laptop open and a drink on your side. I blinked. When I was truly awake I was standing in that same doorway to the kitchen staring in the same direction at that same table. It was dark and you were gone. I miss you everyday. I love you dad.

I am truly sorry for your loss. I am praying for the family and friends during the most difficult time. Rodney used to live in my neighborhood, Mill Creek. We both were at WaWa one morning on our way to CCD. We shared a few words, I remember him walking away and leaving such a pleasant smile and chuckle. In all the years that we lived in the same neighborhood, we never ran into each other until that day.

I pretty much knew Rodney fromrour many work trips together over the last 10 years. Today I'm traveling again and I am constantly imagining his smiling face every where I look. We shared many stories of our families - it was obvious how much he loved Alex, Ian and Cam. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

I remember Rodney as a cheerful and kind person from the first time I met him, shortly after I started work just out of college. He was then and was always good-humored in the way people should aspire to be good-humored. I didn't work directly with Rodney much, but that didn't stop him from helping with the occasional random question. He could be counted on to be thoughtful and caring of his fellow employees, he was mindful of setting a good example without sacrificing his personality to try to be perfect and he was someone I was always cheered to see. I will miss his energy and attitude and characteristic chuckle... you know, the one that shook his whole body. Farewell, Rodney. You were of the light.

Story shared: The Best Lunch

This is a work story:

Rodney and I had similar lunch containers in the refrigerator at work. Upon leaving work early one day I reached into the fridge and grabbed what I thought was my container of food. When I got home, I realized the initials RK were on the container..... I opened it and it was beans and rice..... I hadn't had beans and rice in so long..........it was DELICIOUS.

I texted someone at work to let Rodney know I had inadvertently taken his lunch and I was sorry. The next day, Rodney told me not to worry as I had given him an excuse to go out for lunch that day.

Thereafter, whenever Rodney saw me he would make a show of hiding his lunch from me or would tell me he had hidden his lunch way in the back where I couldn't find it.

Rodney's humor and his great smile made him a joy to be around. There was fierce competition as to who had the most Batman post it notes from Rodney. It was like receiving a medal and I was proud to be the recipient of a few.

Thank you Rodney and my life has been enriched by knowing you.

Kim- I don't know if you remember me, but Rodney & I were good friends at NCSU when he lived in Bragaw and was in Sullivan. We were both EE's and played a lot of tennis together, along with Nick Briggs. Rodney and I lost touch over the years, but I wanted you and your sons to know that time and distance have never diminished the memory of his character and our friendship. He was always a great soul- kind, funny, gentle, and smart. May you find comfort in your faith, family, and friends, and be assured that he leaves an incredible legacy behind.

Kim, boys and parents I just can't believe Rodney is gone at such a young age and so quick - hit close to home as he was younger than me!! It's just impossible for me to believe that Rodney is gone. A man that was in the prime of his life taken away far too soon. One thing I always admired about Rodney was his writing skills. Skills that few people could equal and none that I was aware could surpass his abilities. I used to read Rodney's emails over and over again. I admired his skills so much and wished that I could be just like him. To have a conversation with Rodney was the same way. You knew he was talking and listening only to you. Rodney was a kind man, an intelligent man, full of life with a lively sense of humor. I will miss him greatly. Rest in peace, Rodney.

I barely got to knowing Rodney over the past year, and only after his passing did I learn truly how remarkable a person he is.
