I remember having breakfast with Arthur and going to his house as a child. I remember when he would come back from trips the Philippines and bring us dried mangoes to eat. I remember the special gifts that Arthur would give us. I still have some perfume that he gave me in eighth grade that is so nice I only use it on special occasions! Arthur cared about me and my siblings as if we were his own grandchildren. He was a very dear friend to my mother and we missed him when he moved away. I wish I could have seen him again one last time, but I am glad that he was with his family when he passed away. Always remember that Arthur is with God now and forever. We love you, Arthur!

Arturo was a dear friend to our family and became like family to us. As children we would often visit his home with our mother and he had a kind, generous spirit. He was a great man who had a tremendous impact on many lives. Thank you, Arturo, and my best wishes to your entire family.

Story shared: An Example of Faith

Arturo became an adopted Grandpa to me from the time I was about four years old. He would walk to daily Mass and my Mom would usually give him rides home. It was always evident that his Faith and his family was at the center of his life. I specifically remember recently when he came back to Omaha, I was able to have breakfast with him (for one last time), he expressed his prayers for me as I prepared in studying to become a priest. His faith and trust in God, even as he began to grow weak, was incredible. My condolences to all Autoro's family, my prayers are with you and for Autoro.

Arturo (Arthur) was my "Grandpa" or "Papa" growing up. He treated me like a granddaughter after my mom met him at our church. I loved hearing stories about the Phillipines, Arturo's kids and grandkids, and eating dried mangoes, chocolate, and going to breakfast with him. He had the heart of a child, and I thought he would live forever. I wish I would have kept in better touch with Arthur after he moved away, but I know he was in the best place in the world. . .with his family. I will never forget the love he showed everyone he met. He was a true gentleman, and he lived his life for others. I will miss you. Thank you to Mitzi and all of Arthur's family for sharing him with my family for so many years. Story shared: Are You Cold?

I can remember long ago when I first met Arturo, I went to morning Mass at St. James when my children were still very little. He was standing outside after Mass shivering, it was only the 1st or 2nd day in October,he had a stocking cap, gloves and a heavy coat on, and I asked him are you cold??? He said yes,it's not like where I came from in the Philippines, very chilly here. I told him, wait a few months you haven't seen the worst of it yet. Apparently he remembered because another morning it was snowing like crazy out after Mass and I gave him a ride home, the boys were with me before they went to school. When we got to Ronnie & Grace's home, the kids got out of the car and Arturo hid on the other side and started throwing snowballs at me, and I thought of the first time I asked him, Are you Cold? Well I sure was then.. Thanks for the memories Papa.
