Obituary for Garnett Louise Sharp

Garnett Louise (Brugh) Sharp passed away on December 14, 2018 at her home in Chesapeake and had resided in Chesapeake for over 50 years. Garnett was the 2nd of seven children born March 27, 1919 in the mountains of West Virginia to a hardworking coal miner, Warren Brugh and his wife, Pearl Pack Brugh, a true coal miner’s daughter. The Brugh family legacy in the mountain town of Fincastle, near Roanoke, Virginia can be traced back six generations, the Patriarch of the Brugh family in America pre-dates the American Revolution. Garnett embodied much of the Brugh’s fighting spirit, work ethic and determination.
Garnett was preceded in death by her husband, of 57 years, Carl Sharp and her son, Ronney Sharp.

She is survived by her daughter, Gaynell Davis; five grandchildren, Debra Hutchens, James Davis, Tonya Amarino, Paul Sharp and Beth-Ann Moulton; nine great-grandchildren, Brooke, Blair, Brett, Shawn, Dylan, Devon, Abigail, Oliver and Adrianna and one great- great grandchild, Evelyn.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A service to celebrate her life will begin at 2 p.m at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
