Frederick Astor “Rick” Karn, III, 74, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Sunday, November 11, 2018. He was born locally to the late Frederick Karn, Jr. and Margaret Bowden Karn. He served his country proudly in the National Guard and retired from the International Longshoreman’s Association as a Checker with Local 1624. He was a member of Bucks Branch Hunt Club in Capron and an avid motorhead. He raced regularly at Northeast Dragway; Dixieland, South Hampton and VA Motor Speedways. He also enjoyed Hydroplane boat racing and cruising around on his Harley. He was a hands-on man who loved his family and his dogs.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 40 years Arlie “Kay” Karn; children, Christy Anne Karn, William Thomas Karn and his wife Megan, and Gina Marie Franks; sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Karn Maxwell; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved their “fun uncle” Rick.
