Joseph "Joe " Jones, Sr. went home to be with the Lord in the comfort of his home with his loving daughter and Cathy at his side on August 11, 2018 at the age of 85. He is joining his wife, Beryl whom he has missed badly in the six and a half years that she has been gone. Joseph was born on July 22, 1933 to Daniel Webster "Web"Jones, Sr. and Evelyn Jones. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, William " Steve" Jones; his sister in law, Gerry Jones; his niece Jeanette Hoslt and nephew Gary Jones.
Joe worked at Colonna Shipyard in Norfolk for 41 years and 9 months when he retired Dec. 14, 2011 the same day his wife passed. He really loved that shipyard including Bill Colonna and his colleagues. Bill said that" he was the best crane operator ever."
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Shelia Midgett; his son, Joseph Jones, Jr.; his brother, Dan Jones; his nephews, Steve Jones and Michael Jones;his niece, Colette Cannon; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thank you to a special friend that cared for Joseph, Cathy Knecht and for Comfort Care Hospice for the care and love they gave him in his last days.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Hickory Ridge Community Church, 3320 Battlefield Blvd. South, Chesapeake at 12 p.m. with burial to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
