He spent his formative years excelling in athletics earning multiple All-Star selections in baseball, with one All-Star team advancing to the Pony League World Series to play against the Puerto Rican National Team. When Justin wasn't on the baseball diamond, he was a fixture at the Great Bridge "Rec" Center basketball courts where he grew quite the reputation for not only being a great player but also letting everyone know how great he was. Justin went on to play basketball at Great Bridge High School, where he would later graduate.

Justin was preceded in death by Denise Old Karney, mother, and Heather Karney, half-sister. Left to cherish his memory are Elvin Old and Linda M. Old, maternal grandparents, Jason Karney, brother, Sheila Old Huddleston Pickral, aunt, Spencer Huddleston, cousin, Jim Pickral, uncle, Thomas Karney, father, and Cynthia Karney, step-mother.

Justin was passionate in all aspects of his life. His fierce loyalty and compassion for his friends and family were unassailable. He loved his mother wholeheartedly and became a caretaker for her in the latter stages of her life. Further, he selflessly devoted himself to his beloved "Pap" and "Nan" who he cared for dearly.

A visitation and funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Monday, August 13, 2018 at Graham Funeral Home located at 1112 Kempsville Rd., Chesapeake, VA.
