Obituary for Robert G. "Buddy" Bagley

Robert Gilbert “Buddy” Bagley, 86, quietly passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at his home. A native of South Norfolk, he was the last of 21 children of the late James Clark and Corrine White Bagley.
Buddy was a veteran of the U. S. Army, he was employed with the Chesapeake Fire Department for 35 years serving 16 years as Fire Chief and worked in community banking for 20 years.

An avid community philanthropist and volunteer, he was a charter member of the South Norfolk Ruritan Club, past president of the Chesapeake Sports Club, past member of the Chesapeake City Council, one of the original organizers of the Chesapeake Jubilee and the chairman of Chesapeake Public Schools Educational Foundation. He was a member of the South Norfolk Masonic Lodge #339, served as Potentate of the Khedive Temple Shrine in 1980 and past president of the Mid-Atlantic Shriners’ Association in 1990.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Peggy P. Bagley and his daughter, J. Page Bagley and her husband, James E. Pierce, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at Great Bridge Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 2 p.m. Burial will be private at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
