Obituary for Joseph "Joe" Kraus

Joseph “Joe” Kraus, 90, went home to be with his Lord October 16, 2017. Joe served his country in the United States Navy and retired after more than 30 years of service as a Lt. Commander. He was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church and had volunteered at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

Joe was loving and kind, he was outstanding and wonderful to his family. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Shirley Heath Kraus; a daughter, Theresa Miller and her husband, Dana; his grandson and best friend, Tyler Miller (Rachel); great grandchildren, Cole and Brooke; son, Joseph Kraus, Jr. and his wife, Cindy; and their children, Missy, Candace, Megan, Ally and Maddie; and numerous great grandchildren; siblings, Ed Kraus (Nancy), James Kraus (Ann), Rose Kraus and Kathy Kraus. The family also want to say thank you to Dave Libengood, Jr. and J.T. Salamon for their friendship and care; and a special thanks to the caregivers of Comfort Care Hospice, Linda, Dawn, Amanda and Barbara. Joe was predeceased by a son, David A. Heath.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 6 to7:30 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. A service to celebrate his life will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dave Libengood officiating.
